Welcome to the how-to page.
This page will tell you how to do everything from a wheelie to a 8ft drop-off! |
|

Trackstand.
This is the most simple trials move.basically you need to keep your bike stationary by using your balance and your brakes. To do this move roll along slowly and pull your brakes.Turn your front wheel at 45*.If you lose balance release the brakes and pedal forwards slightly.Unfortunatly this move is so extreme that we couldn't get any one to do it on camera.

Wheelie.
You may need to raise your seat slightly to make this easyer to learn. Roll along at walking pace and pedal the front wheel up by pedaling with your weaker foot and lifting on the bars.Keep pedaling or the front wheel will drop. If you start to fall backwards apply the rear brake slightly. At first you will probably fall sideways because your balance will not be good enough, this is only improved by practicing. Dont use a gear that is to low as you will not be able to keep going for very long(4th seems best to me)
VARIATIONS: most wheelie variations involve taking either your arms or legs off the bike while on the backwheel.Variations include;
No-footers one-footers The one-handed Panda wheelie. |

Endo.
This move is damn easy. Bassically ride along and pull your front brake.Put your weight back so you dont go over the bars. |
Basic Bunnyhop.
This is where you need to learn how to lift the back wheel without your brakes.Move at walking pace and crouch down(ready to jump and lift). To lift the front wheel you just have to pull on the bars, lifting the back wheel however is a bit more complicated. To lift the back wheel push backward slightly on the pedals and lift in a scooping motion with your feet. This will take a while to get right but eventually you should be able to lift the back wheel easily. Now all you do is combine lifting the front with lifting the back and you will do a bunnyhop! |

Hopping on the back wheel.
Do a small endo to start the move. Come down from the endo with your back brake on.Lean backwards and you should now be on your backwheel.Lift the backwheel useing the same technique as the bunny hop (scooping backwards on the pedals).Lean back after each hop to stop the front from droping. |
Backhops/Powerhops.
Get on the back wheel in the same way as when you hop on the backwheel.Do a couple of hops to get your balance. Now you need to release the brake, pedal, and hop all at the right moment. Getting the timing right will take practice but when you get it right remember to lock your brake when you land!! You will find this move easyer if you get your bike on the backwheel without endoing. To do this, start by trackstanding, then make a large pedal stroke and lift on the bars.As the front comes up hop and lock your brake in the air for when you land. You should now be on your backwheel ready to backhop. |

Manual.
This is easyest to learn on a slope. Ride along at a fast pace and lift the front wheel with your arms(Dont pedal!)Lean backwards to keep the front wheel in the air.If you lean back to far pull the back brake slightly but not to hard or you will lose momentum. At first you may fall sideways but your balance will improve as you practice more. |
Front wheel hopping.
Start by rolling along at walking pace and pull a endo. You need to get your weight over the front wheel, bend your legs and keep your arms straight. Now start hopping. You will need to bunnyhop the back wheel as you hop the front or the back wheel will drop.
VARIATIONS:
180 on the front wheel switzerland squeaker(scuff your front wheel and roll backwards.) |

Back Wheeling.
Start by rolling towards the obsticle at about walking pace. When you are close to the obsticle make a pedal stroke with your bad foot and lift the front wheel at the same time, as your good foot comes forward bunnyhop the backwheel up and bend your legs, while pushing the handle bars up with your arms, if all has gone well the back wheel should now be on the wall with your front wheel still in the air. |
Gap jumping.
BACKHOP TECHNIQUE : Get on the back wheel and make a big pedal stroke to the edge of the gap.Now put loads of presure on the pedals and lean back. Now when you pedal jump upwards and throw your weight forwards.Streech your legs out and land on the back wheel.Bend your legs and arms for a soft landing.
WHEELIE TECHNIQUE : Start with your bad pedal forwards. Put your weight back.Pedal forwards and lift the front. When your good pedal comes forwards put down loads of power and jump upwards. Land the same way as with the backhop technique.
VARIATIONS :
Start with your bike at 90 degrees to the landing and try to spin and gappy at the same time. |

Drop-offs.
WHEELIE TECHNIQUE : Start with your bad foot forward and your front wheel at the edge of the drop.Pedal with your bad foot and lift the front wheel.Carry on pedaling so that when you leave the edge your good foot is in the forward possition. As you drop push the back wheel down first by straightening your legs. When you land bend your arms and legs to absorb the impact.
BACKHOP TECHNIQUE : Line up square with the drop and get into a trackstand. Now get on the back wheel and hop towards the edge. When you reach the edge you need to stall the bike and lower the front wheel.Keep your nerve as you really dont want to bail at this stage!!Pedal off the drop and absorb the landing as before.
SIDEHOP TECHNIQUE : This time line up to the drop sideways. You need to make small side hops towards the edge. Keep an eye on your wheels as you dont want one of your wheels sliping off by accident. When your as close to the edge as you want to be do a big side hop off and absorb the landing with your arms and legs. |
